Title: 2nd shift CNC Machine Operator
Location: Richmond, VA
Job Type: Contract to Hire
Rate: 24.00 - $25.00/Hour
Responsibilities::
• Set up and operate CNC machines such as plasma cutters, beam drill lines, and angle lines to process structural steel components.
• Read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine job specifications.
• Load and secure steel beams, plates, and other materials using overhead cranes and rigging equipment.
• Monitor machine operation, making adjustments for accuracy and quality as needed.
• Use precision measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and squares to verify tolerances.
• Perform basic programming edits or adjustments to accommodate different material sizes or thicknesses.
• Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC machinery to ensure reliable operation.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with OSHA and shop safety protocols.
Qualifications::
• High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training preferred.
• 2+ years of CNC machine operation in a structural steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret structural steel shop drawings.
• Skilled in using precision measurement tools.
• Experience with overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
