The Livestock Team Member is responsible for overseeing the hogs, checking and cleaning hog pens and leading the hogs to the harvest chutes as needed. The employee must enforce humane handling of the hogs in our barn and while being unloaded from delivery persons. The employee must move hogs in an efficient manner so that a steady flow is maintained throughout the plant. The employee must communicate with other employees in the livestock barn in order to effectively move hogs from the delivery truck to pens and then on to be harvested. The worker must also communicate effectively with the chute workers on the Harvest Floor in order to have hogs ready when they are needed; and to also slow down the harvest drive if more time on the Harvest Floor is needed.
Specific Duties:
Dumping hair barrels
Placing hogs in pens
Moving hogs from the pens to the Harvest floor
Ensures the humane handling of hogs
Ensures that hogs are delivered and unloaded in safe humane manner
Conducting checks on the condition of the hog pens
Conducting checks on the condition of the hogs
Makes sure there is no more than 10 hogs are delivered to the Harvest Floor chute at one time
Ensures that the flow of hogs to the harvest floor is steady, without any backups, and downtime is minimal
Picking up trash around plant and emptying trash cans around parking lot
Helps with the cleaning and sanitizing of the hogs pens
Prepares tools and equipment for the day
Helps prepare hogs for harvest
Begins delivering hogs to harvest floor when harvest begins in the morning
Makes sure that the correct hogs are being taken to harvest
Delivers hogs as needed to harvest floor for harvesting until the harvest ends
Clean and put away all tools
Clean the barn
