Job Overview
West Penn Heavy Haul is seeking experienced CDL Class A Drivers to transport service and frac equipment for our Frac Moving Service Division. Drivers will operate 3-axle and 4-axle winch trucks and rigid-frame trucks to support local and regional service/frac operations, with occasional assignments assisting the Heavy Haul Rig Moving Division as operational needs require.
This role requires advanced heavy haul driving skills, knowledge of federal and state regulations, expertise in winch/load securement operations, and a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and professionalism in dynamic jobsite environments.
Key Responsibilities
Operate Class A commercial vehicles, including 3-axle and 4-axle winch trucks and rigid-frame trucks, transporting service and frac equipment.
Perform winch operations for loading, unloading, and positioning equipment.
Transport oversized/overweight loads in compliance with permits, routing, and escort requirements.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections; ensure DOT compliance for vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
Secure loads using chains, binders, straps, and rigging to prevent shifting or damage.
Plan and follow efficient routes while considering road restrictions, permits, and oversize/overweight regulations.
Communicate effectively with dispatch, operations, customers, and jobsite personnel.
Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, permits, and job documentation.
Perform basic vehicle checks (fluids, tires, lights) and report mechanical or safety issues.
Safely operate in diverse environments, including frac sites, service locations, and construction areas.
Support the Heavy Haul Rig Moving Division when dispatched, based on qualifications and operational needs.
Comply with all company policies, safety programs, and operational procedures.
Essential Job Functions
Bending, Twisting, and Turning: Inspect equipment, secure loads, and perform winch operations.
Lifting and Carrying: Regularly lift/carry up to 50 pounds of rigging or equipment.
Manual Handling: Secure loads with chains, binders, straps, and winch systems.
Climbing / Heights: Work on trailers, equipment, and loads; maintain balance at heights.
Prolonged Driving: Maintain focus and situational awareness for up to 11 hours per DOT regulations.
Environmental Conditions: Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, snow, and mud.
Physical Endurance: Perform demanding tasks over long workdays in heavy haul and jobsite operations.
Qualifications
License & Driving Record
Valid Class A CDL
Acceptable driving record
Experience
Heavy haul and/or winch truck operation preferred
Experience supporting service, frac, or rig-moving operations preferred
Regulations & Knowledge
Working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations
Understanding of oversize/overweight load requirements and permitting
Skills
Proficient in load securement and winch operations
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to read maps, follow routing instructions, and navigate restricted-access routes
Physical Requirements
Lift up to 50 pounds regularly
Bend, twist, climb, and work at heights
Sit and remain alert for extended driving periods
Work Schedule
Schedule flexibility is required to support service and frac operations.
Hours may include early starts, late finishes, weekends, and extended shifts.
Schedules are subject to change based on customer and operational demand.
