Job Title: Community Programs Supervisor
Permanent, Part Time

Details of the Position: Under the direction of the Community Programs Manager, provides oversight of assigned programs and staff. May include other services mandated by contracts with provincial government ministries. Tasks 
to include support and supervision of program staff in the delivery of services.

Qualifications: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline (social work, psychology, counselling). Experience in supervision of legal or children’s counseling programs preferred. Minimum of 2 years’ leadership experience in the community social service sector

Classification and Grid: Excluded

Hours: 28 hours per week, with a possibility of increase to 35. 

Starting Pay Rate: $69,160 - $74,620 per year for full time, prorated for part time hours

Benefits: As specified in the Management Benefit Plan

Start Date: ASAP

Additional Information: This position requires satisfactory completion of a criminal records search, and Standard First Aid Certificate.

Reports To: Community Program Manager

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Adherence to the constitution, philosophy, mission and values of the Society. 

Under the direction of the manager, supports the oversight of all day-to-day operations and provision of services for 
community programs and assigned outreach programs. Will be part of a rotating team that provides on-call support to program staff.

Ensures effective program/service delivery consistent with the Society’s mandate, policies, legal, contractual, budgetary and other requirements. May develop and make recommendations for the development of new program areas. 

Participates as a member of the Leadership Team in developing long range and strategic plans, assessing and 
resolving operational issues and policies. 

Oversees the scheduling of program staff. In consultation with Managers, will participate in human resource activities, including hiring, training, supervision, performance appraisal, discipline, grievance resolution, arbitration and discharge. 

Provides active, on-site supervision to assigned program staff, including support, information, training, and case 
consultation. Monitors the service delivery of staff and volunteers to ensure a high level of consistency and quality of service.

Will adhere to Health and Safety requirements in compliance with Provincial and Agency policies and procedures. When required, will be the management representative on the JOHS committee. 

In consultation with Leadership Team and program staff, will develop and establish standards and accountability 
mechanisms for community programs, which include legal, children’s, and older women’s programs. Recommends long-range plans and objectives in programs delivery.

Will provide feedback to the development of programs, resources, budgets, operational and organizational requirements for all new and existing programs. 

When requested, participates in various internal and external committees, working groups, and associations. 

Maintains effective relationships with community groups. 

Liaises with community organizations to coordinate provision of services and resolve program delivery issues. 

Prepares reports and makes presentations as required. 

Engages in ongoing education regarding intimate partner violence.

Performs other related duties as required.

Education, Training and Experience: The position requires a thorough knowledge of intimate partner violence, feminist perspective counselling approach. Extensive program development and supervisory experience 
in management in a unionized environment is an asset. 

Dedication to ongoing education and development is essential. 

Completion of a university degree and related experience is required.

Minimum of 2 years’ leadership experience in the community social service sector

Job Skills and Abilities:
Excellent oral, written, facilitation and interpersonal communications skills. 

Excellent planning, organizing, and administrative skills including client data system.

Demonstrated teamwork, leadership and supervisory skills. 

Ability to function independently and collaboratively while managing multiple projects and deadlines.

Ability to work a flexible schedule.

Driver’s license and access to reliable vehicle for travel to different worksites
