KIPP — the largest nonprofit network of college-preparatory, public charter schools in the nation—has demonstrated, at scale, that all children have the potential to excel academically regardless of race or zip code. KIPP currently serves over 120,000 students in 275 schools nationwide, including Indianapolis. KIPP Indy Public Schools (KIPP Indy) was founded in 2004 with one class of fifth-grade students and has grown to serve 1,500 students across four schools. Of the students that attend KIPP Indy, 98% qualify for free and reduced lunch, 92% are African American or LatinX, 13% receive special education services, and 18% are designated as Multilingual Learners. We are looking for a highly dedicated high school educator who has a track record of instructional excellence and who is willing to continuously go above and beyond for students. KIPP Indy teachers are responsible for delivering effective, rigorous instruction in their content areas that produce high-quality results and student understanding.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Demonstrate a strong understanding of student learning and effective teaching strategies
• Regularly tracking student data
• Maintain an organized and focused learning environment
• Utilize state standards to develop curriculum and lesson plans based on these standards
• Implement student management policies within classrooms and everywhere on campus
• Create and foster a positive learning environment
• Establish and maintain strong communication lines with all families
• Attend school-wide events, such as open houses, family conferences, and other events involving families
• Consistently use assessment and data to set goals, inform decisions, and invest students in their progress
• Perform all duties related to your classroom including clerical duties relating to textbooks, instructional supplies, student reports and records, attendance reports, etc.
• Prioritize instructional practices that enable real-time feedback to students
• Use formative assessment data to inform both short and long-term instructional decisions that promote all students’ academic performance
• Embrace and incorporate feedback in the spirit of constant improvement
• Partner with applicable stakeholders to appropriately scaffold for all learners (Multilingual Learners, Diverse Learners)

• Valid Indiana teaching license or reciprocity process underway for a valid out-of-state license (required)
• Bachelor’s degree in history or related field (required)
• Minimum of 2-5 years teaching in an urban public school (preferred)
• Experience teaching in a public high school setting (preferred)
• Strong record of helping students from under-served neighborhoods achieve academic success
• Experience in analyzing student data and using data to inform instruction
• Unquestioned integrity and commitment to the KIPP Indy mission and community
• Possess a strong knowledge of the content area and have met all required educator standards for their content
• Pass a criminal background check, as required by law

Licensed teacher starting at $50,000

Salary is commensurate with experience and includes a highly competitive benefits package. Opportunities for performance-based bonuses are also available.
