The Family Liaison is responsible for connecting the parents of LFDCS students to activities and information—specifically to ensure the fulfillment of the mission of parent involvement. The Family Liaison shall be responsible for carrying out the parent involvement required by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary contact for parents in grades K1 through Grade 2
Work closely with administration in creating family/school partnership to promote student success.
Facilitate SPED and ESL PAC meetings by providing supports to school staff and parents.
Plan and attend Parent Coffees.
Assist Principal with School Site Council and its responsibility of parent
involvement in school improvement. Assist Principal with School Site Council meetings by providing support and communication.
Assist school administration with communication, mailings, trainings and meetings necessary to meet parent involvement goals.
Attend school meetings as requested by the Principal or Family Services Coordinator.
Assist Heads of Schools with parent open houses, special meetings, and other
home-school events. (Graduations, Movie Nights, Summer Fiesta, etc.)
Conduct home visits for all new families enrolled in the school
Collaborate with the Head of the Academy to conduct Right from the Start Workshops for K1 families
Prepare and distribute flyers and/or mailings for all trainings and workshops related to family development (PAC, SSC, Right From the Start, etc.) and follow-up phone calls to ensure attendance
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Bilingual English and Spanish required, excellent writing and speaking skills in Spanish and English.
Ability to translate verbally and in writing.
Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
Demonstrates excellent communication skills (oral and written)
Demonstrates management, interpersonal and organizational skills
Demonstrates a high level of technology uses such as Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
Experience working with parents and stakeholders in a school setting
Schedule: Full-Time, Full-Year Position (260 days); 3 weeks of vacation
