LFDCS is searching for a Behaviorist: K1-G2 to join our team. The Behaviorist supports students in Pre-K through G2 by providing targeted behavioral and social-emotional interventions that improve self-regulation, engagement, and participation in school routines and instruction. This role functions as both a direct service provider and consultative support to classroom teams, ensuring consistent, proactive, and developmentally appropriate behavior practices across settings.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Student Support & Intervention
Provide direct behavioral instruction to students individually and in small groups.
Focus instruction on self-regulation, emotional control, transitions, routines, task initiation, functional communication, and classroom participation.
Support students across general education, inclusion, and specialized settings, as appropriate
Observe students across multiple environments to inform intervention planning.
Use SEL and RTI data to identify student needs and appropriate interventions.
Behavior Planning & Data
Develop, implement, and monitor Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) when appropriate and in collaboration with the special education team.
Collect and analyze data to assess intervention effectiveness and guide adjustments.
Support the development of measurable IEP goals related to social-emotional and behavioral needs.
Reinforce positive behaviors for students with IEPs.
Classroom & Staff Collaboration
Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers regarding behavioral concerns and support.
Assist with establishing consistent behavior expectations, routines, and systems.
Model proactive classroom management and positive behavior strategies.
Support paraprofessionals in implementing behavior plans with fidelity.
Embed social-emotional and behavioral skill instruction into daily classroom practices.
Meetings, Communication & Leadership
Attend and contribute to IEP meetings, RTI meetings, and K1-G2 CPT meetings.
Communicate with families regarding student progress related to individual behavior plans, as appropriate.
Provide regular updates and consultations with school leadership, including the Principal, Heads of School, and Special Education Director.
Schedule: Full-Time, School-Year Position
